Following the takeover of the Hamburg-based Lütje shipyard by long-time employee Jan-Hendrik Böhm, the company is now presenting plans for a genuine daysailer for the first time. The Lütje 33, a design from the Bremen design office Judel, Vrolijk & Co, combines attractive and traditional lines with state-of-the-art boat building.

Inspired by the classic English pilot cutters, the Lütje 33 has a vertical bow stem and an overhanging stern with a traditional yacht stern. However, the design below the waterline speaks a completely different language: a modern T-keel (stainless steel fin with lead bomb) and a slim but deep rudder profile are intended to ensure high performance potential and good manoeuvrability in windy conditions.

The aluminium rig with two pairs of spreaders (also available as an optional carbon fibre version) is fitted with a self-tacking jib. This makes the 10.20 metre long boat particularly interesting for single-handed sailors. What's more, all sheets, halyards and spreaders below deck are within easy reach of the helmsman. A 60 square metre gennaker or a code zero can be set for room sheet courses. However, the concept does not include a bowsprit. The Lütje 33 will also be available with either tiller or wheel steering.

From the shipyard, the daysailer from Lütje is equipped with a 14 hp Yanmar built-in diesel engine. Teak panelling on the foredecks, side decks and cockpit is also standard. The boat (hull and deck) is built as a GRP sandwich construction with epoxy resins. The cabin superstructure is finished with mahogany veneers for visual enhancement.

The living comfort is limited, but it's enough for a weekend for two or with a small family. There is a V-berth in the foredeck and two long benches in the saloon for sitting and sleeping. Additional interior fittings such as a toilet or a small galley are available on request as part of the semi-custom concept. The basic price for the standard version of the Lütje 33 will be 336,770 euros.
